Perfect Filial Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Mary’s sole purpose was to support and guide humanity in living the Will of God.
By accepting the angel’s message that she would become the Mother of God through the Holy Spirit, her faith and trust in God’s promise of a Savior became reality — the Word became Flesh (Jesus) in her body, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Her entire existence, as witnessed over many centuries of Marian apparitions, has been dedicated to gathering and pointing humanity toward her Son, the Son of God, who sacrificed His life on the Cross to reconcile mankind with His Almighty Father. From the Cross, Jesus proclaimed: “Behold your Mother.” This is why the Consecration prayer we pray is called a Perfect Filial Consecration — signifying the close bond one can have as a child to its mother. We pray for her guidance and intercession as our Blessed Mother, for our continuing conversion and progress in the spiritual life for union with God.
An Act of Consecration – Meaning:
Consecration is a deliberate act of ‘setting something aside’ as special for God. When a person consecrates themselves to the Blessed Mother, they set themselves apart for God, with the Blessed Mother’s assistance. The Blessed Mother always leads us to her Son, Jesus Christ, as she was His most perfect disciple, faithfully following God’s Will throughout her earthly life and heavenly eternity.
LAMBS has assembled a Helpful Pocket Prayer to assist you with this Consecration.

Introduction to the Lay Apostles of Mary, Brothers and Sisters, Incorporated
I. Lay Apostles of Mary, Brothers and Sisters, Incorporated - LAMBS
Religious non-profit formed in 1963. Father Aloysius Ellacuria, CMF, charged Verne and Corinne Hubka (both Catholic converts) to life-time commissions to promote a Special Prayer labeled Perfect Filial Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Our Blessed Mother. This is the “3 in 1” Blue Prayer which we have had the privilege of handing out more than 20,000 copies thus far.
II. What does a Consecration Mean?
Consecration is a sacred and deliberate act by which something is set apart exclusively for God’s purpose and glory. Inanimate objects—such as a simple cup—may be designated for divine use and become a chalice, consecrated for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. A structure may be set aside as a place of worship and become a chapel or a church, sanctified for the dwelling of the Divine. These objects, though made holy by purpose, have no will of their own.
In contrast, when a human person consecrates themselves—body and soul—to God, it involves a free, conscious offering of the will. Personal consecration is not a symbolic gesture but a total and voluntary entrustment of oneself to God, without condition or reservation. It is more accurately called entrustment—a full surrender, as if saying: “I give myself entirely into your care.”
When this consecration is made to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is not an end in itself, but a profound spiritual relationship rooted in love, trust, and divine order. We give ourselves to her as our supernatural Mother, trusting that she, in turn, will present us more perfectly to her Son, Jesus Christ. Just as a child instinctively turns to their mother for comfort and guidance, so too do we turn to Mary—Mother of God and our spiritual Mother—entrusting everything to her maternal care.
The origin of this devotion lies in the very heart of Christ. As He hung upon the Cross, in His final hour, Jesus said to the beloved disciple: “Behold your Mother.” In that moment, He entrusted Mary to the Church and, through the Church, entrusted every soul to her maternal intercession. He also entrusted her with the care of every disciple’s soul. Jesus knew her incomparable sanctity—her moral and spiritual perfection surpasses all creatures.
Indeed, in the hierarchy of creation, Mary is the highest and most noble of all God’s creatures. She is the masterpiece of divine grace. Jesus Christ, though born of her, is not a creature but the Eternal Son of God, consubstantial with the Father. As we profess in the Nicene Creed:
“We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
He came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.”
Thus, in the divine plan, God came to us through Mary. And so, it is both fitting and wise that we return to Him through Mary. She is the gateway of the Incarnation, the Mediatrix of grace, and the spiritual Ark who bore Eternal Life into the world. She is exalted above the Seraphim and all the angels and saints.
As St. Alphonsus Liguori teaches, “You will be assured of salvation if you return to God the same way He came to you—through Mary.” Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is essential, for we belong wholly to Him. Yet our human nature is prone to forgetfulness and distraction. Consecration to Mary serves as a safeguard, anchoring our hearts and wills in the surest path back to God.
Though the enemy may attempt to obscure this devotion or cast doubt upon it, he cannot undo the maternal fidelity of Mary. She does not forget her children. She will not abandon those who have entrusted themselves to her. She will guide them securely to eternal life—because she once bore Eternal Life itself into the world.
In the end, it is truly as simple, and as profound, as this: as Christ came to us through Mary, so too we return to Christ through her.
As stated in the Act of Perfect Filial Consecration in the Formal Prayer page 1 the following act is true:
“I come to renew and ratify the absolute and total consecration of my being that I made to your Immaculate Heart on the happy day of my first consecration.”
On page 2 of the Filial Consecration in the Formal Prayer (all four pages), the following is vowed:
I, (name)… humbly prostrate before God, One and Truine, before Jesus Christ, true God and true man,… in the presence of the Glorious Patriarch St. Joseph; St. Michael the Archangel, Prince of the Heavenly Hosts; the Choir of the Apostles, particularly the Beloved Apostle, St. John the Evangelist, your first spiritual child; St. Anthony Mary Claret, the Apostle of the Perfect Filial Consecration to your Immaculate Heart, and of the entire Heavenly Court. With all deliberation and with perfect determination of my will, I offer, I dedicate, I consecrate myself to the special service of your Immaculate Heart, O Blessed Virgin Mary, as your child,…. And to seek in all things the Glory of God, my own sanctification, and salvation of the souls of the entire world.”
III. How hard is this to consecrate?
On page 3 of the Formal Prayer, the following is vowed:
“Our Lord said, we will not enter heaven, unless we become like little children. My sweet Mother, may I ever be for you a most loving child. I promise you that from now on my only preoccupation will be to live as your true child by fulfilling with all possible care all the obligations of my state of life…”
IV. What must I do to be consecrated?
Christ dedicated himself to His Mother. To be Christ-like, we too must consecrate ourselves totally and completely to Our Blessed Mother. On page 4 in the Formal Prayer we ask:
“O dear Mother, that I may see the ideal of my life realized; to love you always, to make you loved by all souls, until my life is spent in your service… Choose me, dearest Mother, as apostle and martyr of the devotion to your Immaculate Heart. O August Mother of God and my sweet Mother, receive this my consecration and accept my offerings.”
V. What are some actual details of this Consecration (also called the “3 in 1” Blue Prayer)?
“I offer you my soul and body, my faculties and senses, all my thoughts, my affections, my words, my deeds, and even the value of my good actions, past, present and future, leaving to you the entire and full right over me and over all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure. I make to you the absolute gift of my heart and soul. I am yours and I wish to be yours in time and in eternity.”
VI. Can you remember the 5 word mantra?
“My Mother, behold your childMy Mother, behold your childMy Mother, behold your child”
VII. Fr. Aloysius Joins the Consecrated.
Fr. Aloysius died April 6, 1981. Corinne Hubka died on May 12, 2004. Verne Hubka was given more time to perfect. Fr. Aloysius promised each of the LAMBS that he would join each who says this Perfect Filial Consecration, whether it is the Formal Prayer (All 4 pages), Short Prayer (Top of page 3) or Abbreviated Prayer (5 word mantra). Father promised to join each in this consecration:
“With perfect determination of my will , I offer, I dedicate, I consecrate myself to the special service of your Immaculate Heart, O Blessed Virgin Mary, AS YOUR CHILD.”
VIII. What Scripture named us -- Luke 10:3.
In St. Luke Chapter 10, verse 3, Christ directed 72 disciples that he commissioned saying “Go, Behold, I send you forth as LAMBS in the midst of wolves.” We must act as disciples. We may become martyrs. We never cease in our efforts.
